We speculated back in January as to whether Beyoncé was about to be unveiled as the new face of H&M, and now we can confirm that she is indeed the star of the Swedish chain's global summer campaign.

Rumours began when the singer was spotted posing for a tropical-themed photo shoot in the Bahamas early in the New Year as one of her dancers, Kimberly Gipson, tweeted (then deleted) the following comment about the shoot: "First day of trial in the Bahamas! H&M all set … go."

For the campaign, the mother-of-one was shot by photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in Nassau, the Bahamas's capital city. The television ad, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, was shot at the same time, and features a new song by the singer, Standing on the Sun , as its soundtrack.
"I've always liked H&M's focus on fun and affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements - fire, water, earth and wind. It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island," says Beyoncé. "It felt more like making a video than a commercial."
The 31-year-old also had a hand in the design process of the summery pieces she models, revealed Ann-Sofie Johansson, head of design at H&M: "There's the perfect bodycon dress, as well as a flowing sun dress that makes a real statement. And of course there are the bikinis, especially the fringed bikini. What makes these pieces even more special is that Beyoncé herself had input into the design, and they are full of her own personal style."
The print and outdoor ads will read "Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M", in reference to the star's next world tour, The Mrs. Carter Show , which kicks off on April 15.
The news comes as the company announced a 11.4 per cent slip in profits in the first quarter of 2013. "The first quarter has been characterized by the continued challenging situation for the fashion retail industry in many of our markets mainly due to a continued tough macro-economic climate, but also due to unfavorable weather during parts of the quarter," the group's ceo Karl-Johan Persson told WWD . However, the brand has set its sights on opening 350 new stores this year, as opposed to the previously planned 325.
But in Christophe Josse's sketchbook, they appear as soul mates that are deeply and passionately in love.

This Frenchman has restated the fragile female form in a whole new light by bringing in a ready-to-wear essence to his fall 2011 haute couture collection. His controlled design techniques speak through the delicate and sensual silhouettes encapsulating the real elegance a woman endures.

You'd argue that almost every designer follows that theory - the theory of making his woman feel sexy. But Josse's real point of difference lies in his choice of fabrics; crocodile and python skin, asphalt lacquered edges, rooster feathers, satin silk and frayed organza. His collection creates magic without being too-obviously haute couture.

Transparent chiffon tops with black opaque trimmings draw attention to the shoulders and chest, giving an ultra-sexy appeal. One-shoulder pleated silk dress with a visible zipper proves the man's attention to detail. Subtle modernity peeps through the use of sheer net over a shimmering sequin evening gown. Although the oxidised gold belts seem a bit too war-like for a collection that's blatantly feminine, the corset bustier and siren red feathered headwear reinstate the original inspiration.

View the original article here
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8145489988865697576.post-21837693402587103222011-07-28T17:15:00.001-07:002011-07-28T17:15:06.856-07:00White, gold and Goddess-like: Gisele

It's a combination that absolutely screams summer: gauzy white fabrics and chunky gold jewels. It's also a combination that gives off a Grecian Goddess vibe that can only be heightened by a great bronze tan and glamazonian limbs like those of Gisele Bundchen. But aside from the general beach beauty of this shoot by Jacques Dequeker it's also a perfect reminder that the sold gold jewellery we've been seeing so much of doesn't have to be limited to choker necklaces and wrist cuffs. In short, there are now plenty of interviews with one of the most influential menswear designers from which we can glean nuggets of opinions and truths. Today we can add another interview to the growing list, but this is one in which Tom Ford approaches something that A Single Man's George approaches each morning: the art of becoming oneself.

In what is a rather introspective interview, designer Tom Ford approaches the topic of fashion as we at Fashionising.com perceive it: that it's equally about self-projection as it is about anything else;

Q: How long does it take every morning for you to become that Tom Ford you were talking about before?

A: It takes me a long time in the morning to become the person that other people expect me to be. When I feel depressed and I have a bad day or something terrible has happened or I have to face something, I go through a very precise ritual getting dressed in the morning. In a sense it is armor; I'm building up a layer.

Ford also touches on a topic that is infrequently discussed in the world of fashion: spirituality;

Q: Are you a spiritual person?

A: I am a spiritual person in an eastern religion kind of way. I learned that happiness for all of us is a switch that you flick in your brain. It doesn't have anything to do with getting a new house, a new car, a new girlfriend, or a new pair of shoes. Our culture is very much about that; we are never happy with what we have today. We always think that we need something else to be happy.

And in between such topics Ford discusses everything from a midlife crisis to getting hit on. You can read and hear the Tom Ford interview in full at The Talks.

Written: 22nd July 2011 at 06.50

View the original article here
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8145489988865697576.post-57570083643171786272011-07-19T01:29:00.000-07:002011-07-19T01:33:42.632-07:00Tom Ford's earth angel: Candice SwanepoelVictoria's Secret Angels are not the kind of Angels that are plucked from heaven. Occasionally they're plucked from the desolate lands of obscurity, but most often they're plucked off the international runway scene, handed a coveted contract to sign, and enlisted into a legion that will clutch to them for a career-long life of beach shoots and glittering runway spectacles. Most of these Angels will make some cross-overs back to high fashion from time to time, as if on temporary assignments back to earth, but rarely do they try and permanently leave the career heaven Victoria's Secret has created for them (unless of course they move onto even bigger things, like acting careers).
Candice Swanepoel is an exception. She hit the big time first as a Victoria's Secret model but has ever since seemed intent on making that backwards transition from Angel heaven back to high fashion earth. She cast her way onto many a Paris runway last season from Dior to Givenchy. And now, in a move that truly cements her transition, she's fronting the latest Tom Ford ad campaign.

Photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Candice's campaign is something of a thematic flow-on from Lara Stone's Tom Ford beauty campaign, awash with the same bold tones and high contrast photography (Lara was also shot by Mert & Marcus) - not really surprising given Ford's ability to apply cohesion across all areas of his brand. And it's a campaign that boldly embodies the absolute glamour of Tom Ford's fall 2011 women's collection, though we'll be interested to see how future editorials interpret the collection in softer light.
Tom Ford staple Jon Kortajarena rounds out the men's part of the campaign, which you can see more of by clicking on the thumbnails and browsing the full gallery.
Victoria's Secret should watch. As much as I may want to hate Cintia Dicker for her perfect figure and covetable sprinkling of freckles, it's simply not possible. No amount of envy is a match for the utter cuteness she exudes, and this adorable video campaign for American Eagle Outfitters lingerie line uses her likability with full force. A lesson for Victoria's Secret if ever there was one: having some genuine warmth, some feeling, in your campaigns is the first step in connecting with your audience.

Since your breasts don't contain any intrinsic structural support, the motion caused by exercising can result in damage and pain.

First Know Your Body...

To know how sports Bras can help you, it's important to know a little about how your breasts are structured. There's something called Cooper's Ligaments that are the primary supporting structures for your breasts. Secondary support is provided only by the skin, which can easily be stretched through constant loading.

The result is what every woman dreads - sagging breasts. Sports bras help to reduce breast movement, which limits not only the breast pain but also the irreversible stretch of your skin and Cooper's Ligaments, thus preventing your breasts from sagging.

If you are large breasted, then sports bras are all the more necessary. Research has shown that breasts that are not properly supported can cause back and neck problems.

Studies have further shown that sports bras reduced breast pain and vertical movement by as much as 50% when compared to bare breasted exercise. Other types of bras too, reduced pain and vertical movement but not as much as sports bras.

Now Get To Know Your Bra.

Sports bras are designed to be sturdier than regular bras, thus offering greater support for the entire chest area. They are normally made up of absorbent, stretchable fabric, like Lycra for example. This soaks up the perspiration away from the skin, thus reducing irritation.

Good sports bras have complete cups to prevent movement of the breasts in any direction. They should also have wide, non-elastic straps and covered fasteners, to prevent rubbing against any part of the body.

You can easily find a wide range of great sports bras online. They're designed to suit every Size and come in all shapes, types and colours.
Know the latest trends in eyewear that fits your personality!

Everybody has wanted a taste of luxury but unfortunately for most people, it's either too hard or too expensive to achieve. The closest to luxury one can ever taste is through wearing the latest trends in fashion, adorning themselves with the latest accessories, strutting in the latest in shoes, and carrying the latest in handbags along. Sad to say, these can come quite expensive, too.

Perhaps the greatest accessory that is sure to get you noticed is the ever trendy eyewear! Yes, even the latest in eyewear hasn't pushed past the expensive mark as yet. Sunglasses are just as important as all the outfits you put together; it gives a better overall impression. Not to mention, it gives you an air of mystique. No wonder people have been purchasing glasses here and there. The decision to buy is not just random; it has to be calculated even to the last detail.

So what can you fashionistas get in as little cost as possible? Numerous! Whether you wish to purchase designer brands or those that don’t have brands at all, if you know what there is to know about eyewear, and then nobody will ever notice the difference!

Factors Influencing Eyewear in Fashion Industry

There are a lot of designs that have been coming out from the fashion industry with regards to the latest in eyewear. Let's start with the shape. The latest fashion in eyewear that are in the rave right now are your oversized shades. Fashionistas anywhere in the world have a preference for these glasses as it shields enough of the eyes and face without hampering your appearance. You should choose wisely, for some of these oversized shades can be heavy and can rest on your cheeks if they don’t have the proper ear supports and nasal rims. Oversized shades that have these qualities can be a nuisance and should be avoided as possible.

Another trend that has evolved is the quality of the lenses. Contrary to the fad in the past, lenses now offer the best protection packed in one single pair of glasses. Lenses now are polarized and can offer ultraviolet protection to varying degrees depending on your preference. Eyewear lenses have now been creatively produced to meet your varying needs. In sports for instance, tennis players now make use of specialized lenses that have yellow enhancement capabilities. This is important in tennis as the sunglasses not only shields your eyes from the glare of the sun but also makes the tennis ball more yellow to aid you in following its every direction. In snow sports the same technology has been maximized but rather than yellow enhancements, these sunglasses have amber lenses or rose lenses that can help you mark the slopes in the snow. This is crucial, again because it shields from the glare of the sun that might hamper your vision, it would also allow you to perform at your peak capacity that does not oversee the rule of safety. For everyday casual wear, you can choose from a variety of dark tinted glasses or those glasses that have no tint at all. However, dark tinted glasses are more often purchased in the market. Or you can even settle for no lenses at all! Yes, the latest and craziest trend in eyewear has just released a new line of sunglasses that have no lenses at all. These type of glasses used to be a fad in the later centuries and now they are back to make a statement. You would have to go to a specialty optic store for these babies however, because these are usually custom-made.

If you are hard of vision and are either myopic or hyperopic and you just can't withstand the routine of contact lenses, then eyeglasses may be prescribed for you. Be the fashionista that you are. You probably don’t want to wear those tacky round-rimmed glasses that don’t do wonders for your appearance. These won’t be a problem for long. Optical stores are now offering you the choice of frames, that can be branded or not, to go with your prescribed lenses. Never has wearing prescription glasses been any trendier!

The last factor that is perhaps the most crucial factor that could make or break a fashionista's decision to buy her eyewear is the frame. These frames come in a myriad of colors, materials, and embellishments. Go crazy! With the rising popularity of eyewear there have never been more options to choose from. Frame colors usually come in available choices of classic black, plain brown, brown and gold combinations, silver, gold, pink, white, and the list is endless. If you don’t have the color you want available but have the money, then you can settle for custom made frames. These frames can be made from the colors, design, and embellishments that you prefer. Aside from the color, frames can also come in different types of materials. You have the cheapest of all the plastic and the latest of which are materials made from titanium and the like that offer the best style in a lightweight fashion.

Your facial structure and personality should always be considered when you choose your eyewear. The type of eyewear that you should decide on purchasing should also be able to afford you the most function in the best design available.

You will be having no more troubles choosing the right eyewear for you. Budget won't also be a factor anymore as more and more manufacturing companies in eyewear has been releasing a number of products in as much variety as possible that would please the fashionista in you.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8145489988865697576.post-85861384101086897872011-06-21T23:44:00.000-07:002011-06-21T23:44:02.195-07:00Abundant Perfume ChoicesThere are so many scent and fragrance choices today as there is a great battle to capture our attention by the manufacturers of perfumes. How do we choose one over its competitor? For that matter, with the huge selection that there is, just getting started is a great challenge!

Let's explore some of the basic categories of perfumes and fragrances.

* Florals are the "all around" choice. That doesn't mean, however, that using a cheap version will do. High quality ingredients count for a lot, particularly when the consumer is searching for a distinctive feminine fragrance.

* Fruity perfumes and fragrances are different from their floral cousins in that they are best for warm weather. Also, the lady who likes tradition, yet a difference from the classic floral will enjoy the spicy, fruity difference.

* Younger consumers are drifting towards the more modern oceanic scents. They are unusual and intense and give off a nautical impression. A great choice for warmer months due to their outdoor-ish nature.

* The oriental varieties have a strong spicy scent. A choice of this variety is usually very personal as they are usually reserved for special events

* A pleasant refreshing choice is brought out by the earthy types of perfumes. Older folks tend to prefer these as they are traditional and less bold.

* Finally, the "green" varieties are a lighter fragrance that goes well on less formal, casual occasions.

So what to choose? Are you the type that doesn't like change? If so, use what you've always used, unless it no longer gives you the pleasure you once got from it. However, if you are of an open mind, expand your horizons and try something different...either from a different category or and different perfume from the same, time tested category.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8145489988865697576.post-15086004862143389082011-06-16T20:46:00.000-07:002011-08-10T03:39:57.119-07:00Ashton Kutcher goes back to his modelling rootsAshton Kutcher has swapped the screen for the catwalk, as he strutted his stuff on stage.
This question has subsided over the years as my friends become used to each other, but new people to our group still ask. It's always amazed me how prominent business people always worry about this . . . but then, that's what makes them prominent.

I attended a realtor awards dinner last night. Black Tie was suggested. I hadn't worn my "Tux" for nine months and when I tried it on, it was a little snug. Without worry, I dressed in a black suit and attended. It was as I had supposed. Those in Tuxedos stood out as the exceptions rather than the rule. Men don't play dress up as well as women do. There were even men there without suits. One stopped a gold chain shy of an American Gigolo. On a group trip to Portland once, I suggested that we bring along our Tuxedos and attend the Portland Opera. I don't think the men even told their wives. The men passed.

If I thought I would have stood out in the crowd at the awards dinner in my suit, I would have sucked in my tummy and not breathed for the evening as I wore my Tuxedo. As it was I arrived early with a back-up plan to rush home and change if I needed to.

The rule of thumb in business is to dress for the job you want to have next. At social events you want to blend in. There is a business training program on CD called Creating Personal Style: An Interactive Guide. This guide is a godsend for people in business who want to advance in their career.

"Whether on the job or going to a special event, dressing right and feeling good about yourself is always important. But knowing what to wear and how to shop for clothes can be frustrating without the right advice. These updated and now totally interactive versions of the popular Your Ideal Silhouette for Women and Suit Yourself for Men can help change uncertainty into confidence as students learn to build and manage their wardrobes in dynamic new ways."
- Ad copy for Creating Personal Style: An Interactive Guide

Creating Personal Style: An Interactive Guide even has video segments that show you how to get properly measured and how to tie bows and ties. It's a very good training aid to have, whether you're a man or a woman.

As a man I think that women have it easy at social events. All they have to do is wear basic black and some make-up. But then I'm a man and I'm probably wrong.

When in doubt about the proper attire for a party or gathering, it's best to call the host or someone involved in the event and ask. Many events are "Business Attire," which means suits and ties or sport jackets and ties for men. At these types of events men use their radar. As soon as someone takes off a tie or a jacket, the rest will follow.

We don't mind looking good, we don't mind dressing up, we just want to fit in and be comfortable. Most of us aren't fashion leaders, we're peer group followers.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
